Out with the pink and in with the blue!!!

So over the past 2 months...I have spent a good amount of time in this room, especially at night :) There are times when I'm asleep so I don't pay much attention to my surroundings, but other times...when I'm awake and looking around, I think about how this room turned out even better than I had imagined! It all started with this idea I saw on a blog and a couple swatches of fabric that I decided to use for the bumper pad and the rest sort of evolved as we went along.


Let me show you around.... :)

First was painting over the pink with a nice neutral tan. Luckily I had some very cute little girls who were very excited to help! They had a blast painting.....

And even managed to keep most of the paint on the walls...

but as you can see...not all of it. :) 

Next up was THE WALL. Oh, when I saw this on a blog...I knew I wanted it for McCoy's room...I just had to find someone willing to do it. Enter my sweet hubby and his sweet friend, who, lucky for us, had all the tools necessary to build the wall! And, as you can see, was suuuuper exicted to get started (or maybe he wanted me to stop taking pictures and get out.....hmmm, surely not.)  :)  Anyway, I made sure they were fed, had some music to listen to, and then kept myself and all the kiddos out of their way and they got.to.work. and had the wall up in about 4 hours.

And.....it turned out amazing! The men were very proud of their handy work and I was so excited it was all finished! Time to decorate! 

I called on my cute little helpers again to paint some letters....and they were happy to do it. Aren't they just the cutest little helpers you've ever seen? :)

And here is the final product. Ahhhhhh, don't you just loooove it?

This is a drawing Russell did when he was just 9 years old....isn't that impressive?! My man of many talents :)

And this was Allie's crib that I painted blue, distressed and glazed to give it that perfect antique-ish look!

The crib bumper was the girls and I recovered it with the help of Gail, my mother-in-law. Thank goodness she was there to help me sew it all together...it turned out to be a little beyond my sewing capabilities! But it turned out soooo pretty!

That dresser was Russell's when he was little and I used the same paint as the crib to make it look like a set...it turned out great! And that dresser is definitely a good one seeing how it has lasted about 25 years! The valances are actually just styrofoam that I cut and wrapped with batting and fabric. This was super easy to do and so easy to hang since it hardly weighs anything.

This picture was the very first thing I bought for McCoy's nursery....my Mimi (my great-grandma) had one hanging up in her house and I always thought it was so cute, so I looked on ebay and sure enough, someone was selling one for $20. It's perfect in this room and makes me smile :) And I bet in about a year, McCoy is going to look pretty similar to those sweet blonde-headed boys!

I had the glider recovered and I spray painted it and a friend of mine gave me that sweet sheep lamp. It's perfect for those late night feedings...not too bright, but just bright enough to see :)

And there are the letters the girls helped me paint!

And here is another drawing he did when he was 9 years old. Like I said, a man of many talents! Thank you David and Gail for saving these and giving them to us...they go perfectly in McCoy's room and are such a special touch.

A close up of the crib and bedding. The checkered fabric was actually a curtain panel I found on sale at TJ Maxx for $10 and the polka dot/stripe fabric I purchased at Hobby Lobby. It turned out just perfect!

And finally....the wall, in all it's glory :) One of these days I may hang something on it...but for now, I think the room is perfect just like it is, especially now that our sweet baby boy is here and I'm sure he loves it too. :)

I apologize for the total lack of blogging the past 2 months...when I do have time to blog, it seems like it's the last thing I want to do. However, I am determined to catch up by this weekend so be on the lookout for several new posts!!! Happy Reading!! :)

Baby Showers for McCoy!

Back in August, our friends and church family got together and celebrated McCoy's upcoming arrival with us not once, but twice!! We felt so loved to be surrounded by such an amazing group of people. It's not very often that people throw baby showers for a 3rd baby, so for us to have 2 showers in McCoy's honor...well, you can imagine how incredibly blessed we felt.

The first shower was a couples shower/dinner given by 5 amazing ladies....

Here are McCoy and I all dressed up and ready to go :) My mom went shopping with me and helped me find the perfect blue dress...I know it's silly, but I really wanted a blue dress for this shower!

Of course, we had to get one with the girls...unfortunately we weren't standing in the best spot. Although, Marissa did an excellent job of blocking the sun so she could flash that smile of hers!

The home looked beautiful! All the decorations were perfect and I was so thankful for all the time and effort the ladies put into making this shower so special for us!

Each napkin had a note with a sweet saying on it all about celebrating babies and their arrival!

Here I am with 4 out of the 5 hostesses. Unfortunately, Jennifer got away before we took the picture. :(  But a big thanks to Jennifer, Allison, Kim, Layne and Julie...you girls mean so much to me and I cannot thank you enough for how special you made me feel that night!

The next day, we had another special shower given by the ladies from our church. It was at Mrs. Gayle's house. Mrs. Gayle is Layne's mom, who is more affectionately known as Gigi and we all love Gigi! She is a very special lady and someone I always enjoy spending time with...since we moved to Anniston, she has taken in our family like we were her own and I will forever be grateful for her and her generousity! We love you Gigi!!

It was such a wonderful weekend and by the end of it all....Russell and I simply thanked God that in the three short years we have been in Anniston, He has blessed us with such incredible friends and a wonderful church family. Thank y'all for celebrating with us the arrival of our sweet baby boy. We are forever grateful.

4th Birthday Party for Princess Marissa!

This year, our Marissa had one simple request for her birthday party. Everything Ariel. She has loved Ariel since our trip to Disney in February, and even though she had never seen the Little Mermaid movie....Ariel has since been her favorite Disney Princess. So, with that said, I will let the pictures do most of the talking...

To keep the kiddos entertained they made some necklaces or "treasures" as Ariel would say...

They also made sand art which was a BIG hit!! This was such a fun craft for the kiddos and very easy cleanup since it was outside!

And of course, what party is complete without the bounce house...

Then it was time to sing Happy Birthday....of course, she had to change into her special Ariel dress for the special moment :) 

Thank you to all our friends and family who came to the party! You all made our sweet Marissa feel so special! It was a wonderful party!
